Conference: 30 years of the Biosphere Reserve: cultural heritage and landscape

biosfera conference14 Feb

The Scientific Council of the Biosphere Reserve is organising, through the OBSAM of the Institut d'Estudis Menorquí (OBSAM-lME) and in collaboration with the Menorca Biosphere Reserve Agency, a conference to review the evolution of the Biosphere Reserve.

This year, as was done in 2018 at the 25th anniversary of the declaration, the aim is to look to the future and also to deepen the analysis and discussion of the major challenges facing Menorca in 2030, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) promoted by the UN and the European Union.

This conference is intended to be a real meeting point for discussion and debate on how to tackle the main problems affecting Menorca. Organised in five thematic blocks (Environmental vectors, water and energy; Natural heritage, territory and marine environment; Cultural heritage and landscape; Economy, tourism and social well-being), they aim to identify the specific challenges facing the island and propose possible solutions. Open to be debated with the participants and attendees at the conference.

The most relevant aspects for the improvement of the human and environmental condition of the island will be dealt with in the spirit of sharing with society the new information and scientific data that have been generated and processed over the last five years. In the final session, a week later, the conclusions of the conference will be presented.

On Wednesday 14, at the headquarters of the IME, the protagonists will be cultural heritage and landscape with talks and dialogues by different experts:
