This aid will be used to improve signage and information on the archaeological sites of Talayotic Menorca. It is the result of a project that the agency submitted to the call for grants for the conservation, protection and dissemination of World Heritage Sites for 2024. 

The artist was awarded a €2,000 grant, the prize for this competition organized by the Associació d'Amics del Museu de Menorca with the support of the Department of Cultural Affairs of the Consell Insular de Menorca/Talayotic Menorca Agency. Utiyama created a kinetic installation in the site of Torrellafuda, inviting reflection on the nostalgia for unlived realities.

This month, we interview archaeologist Octavio Torres Gomariz, who has just published the book Cercles, l'hàbitat protohistòric de l'illa de Menorca alongside Amalia Pérez-Juez. The book is available online in the repository of the University of Alicante as part of the Petracos Collection from the university’s Institute of Archaeology and Historical Heritage.

Its creation has been possible thanks to the public-private collaboration between the Consell Insular de Menorca/Talayotic Menorca Agency and the creator of the toy, Ivan Khanet. This initiative reflects the institutional commitment to the promotion of local culture.

This morning, November 15, the preliminary project for the Talayotic Menorca Interpretation Centre was presented in the Plaza de la Catedral in Ciutadella, a facility that will be the island's reference point on the World Heritage of Talayotic Menorca. 
 

This grant will be used entirely for two excavation, restoration and consolidation projects in two of the publicly owned settlements: Torre d'en Galmés and Son Catlar. The period for carrying out the subsidised activities will be between 1 December 2024 and 31 December 2025.
 

Antoni Ferrer, director of the Menorca Talayotic Agency, and the island director of Culture, Tiago Reurer, have travelled to Gran Canaria to attend the monographic workshop ‘Alliance of Cultural Landscapes and Related World Heritage Sites: The involvement of local communities in the management of cultural landscapes’.

The Teatre des Born and the Teatre Principal in Maó were almost full to capacity, and around 250 people followed the concert at the Teatre Principal online, which was broadcast live on the Consell Insular de Menorca's YouTube channel.

This month we interview Menorcan musician and composer Marco Mezquida, who this weekend presents his work Talaiot for the first time in Menorca.

The celebration of the first anniversary of Talayotic Menorca as a Unesco World Heritage Site brought together more than 120 people at Trepucó, where the president of the Consell Insular stressed the importance of preserving and disseminating this heritage through projects such as the future Interpretation Centre. 

 

The director of the Talayotic Menorca Agency, Antoni Ferrer, represented Talayotic Menorca at the 9th Iberian Meeting of World Heritage Managers, held in the Cultural Landscape of Sintra, Portugal, on 16 and 17 September. 

The celebration events will be spread over different weekends, beginning on September 20 with an institutional event in Trepucó. This will be followed by two concerts by Marco Mezquida on September 28 and 29, and will end with a programme of activities for the whole family on October 5 in Son Catlar and October 6 in Trepucó.
