This archaeological intervention has been made possible thanks to the support of the Island Council, which will increase the excavation budget to 500,000 euros.

On Tuesday, 18 November, Amalia Pérez-Juez (Boston University) and Octavio Torres Gomariz (University of Barcelona) presented at the National Archaeological Museum the latest research on the Andalusi reoccupation of the talayotic site of Torre d’en Galmés.

The excavation campaign at Sa Mitja Lluna came to an end on 30 August, marking an important milestone in the archaeological research of this prehistoric mining site. Amics del Museu de Menorca has presented the results of the 2024 campaign at Torre d'en Galmés. The team has continued excavating one of the domestic structures of the complex, known as ‘Structure 1’, where they have discovered how the dwelling sits on a series of silos dug into the rock.
 

The Menorca Archaeological Project (MAP) 2024 campaign, which ended this week, has continued with the aim of deepening the diachronic study of the habitat in Torre d'en Galmés. For a month, the researchers have focused on the excavation of a large house of the 13th century Andalusian farmhouse, known as SPU 7.

A team led by Lua Valenzuela, researcher at the University of the Balearic Islands, has recently published a new article on animal mobility in the international scientific journal The Journal of Islands & Coastal Archaeology.

The Sant Agustí Vell Archaeological Project has begun a new five-year project that has been presented today, December 20, in the same Talayotic settlement of Sant Agustí. The co-directors of the project have presented the progress of this first campaign focused on completing the excavation of the room attached to the South Building of the Talaiot of Ses Bigues de Mata.
