The Becatalaiotica 2024 programme kicks off on
September 28 in Talatí de Dalt (8 p.m.) with a calendar of five events spread over the months of September, October and November. As usual, the different sites of Talayotic Menorca will become open-air stages where the five finalists will present their proposals. The participant with the best evaluation will win a scholarship of 2,000 euros.
Becatalaiotica is a project of Amics del Museu de Menorca and the Department of Cultural Affairs of the Consell - through the Talayotic Menorca Agency -, which also has the collaboration of the Fundació Illes Balears. Its objectives are to give visibility to young talent, to vindicate Menorca's landscape as a source of inspiration and to imagine new ways of inhabiting the island's prehistoric sites.
Five young people from all over Spain have the opportunity to come to Menorca to present their proposals in the sites of Talayotic Menorca. The theme of these events is completely free: this year we will have artistic installations, audiovisual projections, physical theatre and contemporary dance. The audience is very important, as they are the ones in charge of assessing the originality and interest of the different proposals.
The finalists have gone through a selection process consisting of two phases: a registration form with a questionnaire and the elaboration of an event proposal. A jury of experts in culture, art and communication in Menorca selected ten forms from all those received. These ten people developed their proposal, and among them the five that most corresponded to the essence of the competition were chosen.
The calendar is as follows:
- Saturday, September 28, 8 p.m., Talatí de Dalt: CANCIÓN DE TAULA, audiovisual installation by Eva Antelo (1997, Santiago de Compostela).
- Saturday, October 12, 8 p.m., Torralba d'en Salort: SIN TÍTULO, audiovisual projection and colloquium by Maria Paz Serra (1995, Barcelona).
- Sunday, October 20, 10 a.m., Torre d'en Galmés: HUELLA Y CANTO: DANZA AVIAR, contemporary dance performance by Neus Montané (2000, Barcelona).
