The Governing Council of the Talayotic Menorca Agency approves the draft budget for 2026
The accounts amount to €1,696,815.47 and include actions in management, conservation, and dissemination of the Talayotic heritage
The Governing Council of the Talayotic Menorca Agency (TMA) met this weeek in the plenary hall of the Consell Insular de Menorca, where it approved the draft budget for the 2026 financial year, presented by the TMA's director, Antoni Ferrer.
The accounts, totalling
€1,696,815.47
, had been previously presented to the Scientific Council before their approval by the Governing Council. Of this amount, €200,000 correspond to a nominative grant from the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands, while the remaining funds come from the Consell Insular de Menorca’s own resources.
The draft budget outlines the main lines of action planned for 2026, including:
Development of the Talayotic Menorca World Heritage Management Plan.
Implementation of heritage stewardship contracts with involved owners and managers.
The Talayotic Menorca monitoring project.
Communication Plan actions aimed at raising public awareness of the importance of Talayotic culture as World Heritage.
Communication Plan initiatives designed to promote Talayotic Menorca beyond the island.
Continuation of the work to respond to the recommendations made by ICOMOS.
The intervention project in the north-west sector of Trepucó.
Publication of new books related to Talayotic Menorca.
Organisation of training courses.
Participation in World Heritage forums.
And various initiatives to improve visiting conditions at the main Talayotic sites.
With this budget, the TMA consolidates its strategic approach focused on the integrated management, conservation, and promotion of the island’s archaeological heritage, within the framework of the candidacy and designation of Menorca Talayótica as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
