The Talayotic Menorca Agency participates in the 19th Meeting of World Heritage Site Managers in Cuenca

trobada concaThe Talayotic Menorca Agency participated in the 19th Meeting of World Heritage Site Managers, held on May 20 and 21 in the city of Cuenca. This technical reference forum was organized by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs of Spain. This edition focused on planning the new World Heritage Action Plan in Spain for the 2024–2031 period, in alignment with the priorities established by UNESCO.

The Agency took part in the various working sessions alongside representatives of other properties inscribed on the World Heritage List in Spain, public administrations, and heritage experts. Throughout the meeting, shared challenges faced by site managers were addressed with the aim of defining common strategies to ensure the protection, conservation, and transmission of the Outstanding Universal Values that underpin these properties.

During the sessions, the results of the Third Cycle of Periodic Reporting for the Europe and North America region were presented, along with a specific analysis of the Spanish context. These documents, together with the objectives of the MONDIACULT 2025 international summit, served as the basis for structuring the participatory work that will lead to the development of the new national action framework for World Heritage in Spain.

It is worth highlighting that the Director of the Agency actively participated in Working Group 3, which focused on placing resilience, emergency preparedness, disaster risk management, and climate change mitigation and adaptation at the core of conservation and management efforts.

The active involvement of the Talayotic Menorca Agency in this forum underscores its commitment to collaborative strategic planning processes and reaffirms its dedication to responsible, sustainable management aligned with the international standards required by UNESCO for World Heritage Sites as Talayotic Menorca.
